Mumbai Opening Ceremony of Bharat Rang Mahotsav 2026
As part of Bharat Rang Mahotsav 2026, the Opening Ceremony of the 25th edition of Bharat Rang Mahotssav, the world’s largest International theatre festival, will be held at P.L.Deshpande Auditorium,Prabhadevi, Mumbai, marking the formal inauguration of the festival’s Mumbai chapter.
Organised by the National School of Drama, in collaboration with the Department of Cultural Affairs, P. L. Deshpande Maharashtra Kala Academy, and the Directorate of Cultural Affairs, the ceremony will be inaugurated by Shri Ashish Shelar, Hon’ble Minister of Cultural Affairs, Government of Maharashtra.
The ceremony will be graced by Ms Rohini Hattangadi, Renowned actress, as Guest of Honour, and Ms Mita Vashisht, renowned actress, as Rangdoot. The programme will be chaired by Shri Chittaranjan Tripathy, Director, National School of Drama, with Shri Sriram Pandey, Joint Director, Directorate of Cultural Affairs, Government of Maharashtra, and Ms Meenal Joglekar, Director, P. L. Deshpande Maharashtra Kala Academy, as Special Guests. The Vote of Thanks will be delivered by Shri Pradeep K. Mohanty, Registrar, NSD.
The evening will be followed by the presentation of the play “Tamas”, directed by Chittaranjan Tripathy, Director, National School of Drama and performed by NSD Repertory Company.
The Mumbai chapter of Bharat Rang Mahotsav 2026 will be held from 09 to 13 February 2026 at P. L. Deshpande Auditorium,Prabhadevi, Mumbai.
