पीपल Or People

What happens when two worlds meet the village and the city? What do children see, feel, and question when they look at society through their own eyes?

This play is a journey of discovery led by children. A journey that begins in the heart of a village and tra through the chaos of the city, only to return with new understanding, empathy, and hope.

Through songs, movement, folk rhythms, improvisations, and simple yet powerful images, the performers explore contrasting ways of living: the warmth and balance of rural life, and the speed, pressure, pollution, and disconnection of urban spaces. As friendships form across these worlds, the play gently raises questions about education, privilege, civic sense, environmental responsibility, and the values we pass on to the next generation.

At the centre of the story is a young girl, Prakruti, whose move from a village to the city for education becomes a mirror to society itself. Her experiences of adjustment, friendship, exclusion, resilience, and expression reflect the everyday realities of many children today. Through her voice and the collective voices of all the children on stage – the play reminds us that progress is not just about development, but about care, inclusion, and gratitude.

Created entirely through the Theatre in Education (T.I.E.) process, this performance is devised by the students themselves. Their own observations, imaginations, and lived experiences shape the scenes, making the play honest, playful, and deeply human.

This is not just a story about the future we want to build – it is about how we choose to live together today.
