The play begins with the childhood of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee. We see how his father, Ashutosh Mukherjee, inspires patriotism in his children. As he grows up, Dr. Mukherjee is in the Congress Party and becomes the Minister of Industries. After India’s independence, due to political differences he leaves the Congress Party and resigns from his post. Later, on the advice of Shri Madhav Sadashiv Golwalkar, also known as “Guruji,” he formed Bhartiya Jansangh with Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhayay following his ideology of “One Nation, One Constitution, and One Flag.” He devoted his life to this cause and protested the decision of a separate flag and a separate Constitution of J&K then, ultimately martyring himself for the integrity of the nation. Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee with his strong ideological thoughts and zeal to serve the nation will always be remembered for his visionary leadership.

Director’s Note
“Ya Toh Vidhan Loonga Ya Balidan Doonga” this line is said by Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, influenced by his self ideology of one law, one leader and one flag (to counter the J&K permit System and preventive detention law). He fights against it and was martyred. The play is about the biography of Dr. Mukherjee, tracing his early life of Calcutta and his struggle of making Jansangh Party, and his political stance to integrate J&K to the country under the purview of one Constitution.
