SHABRI KE RAM

Shabri Ke Ram, an untold story of Shabri and Lord Rama, is a powerful retelling of the epic saga. The play covers the key events from the Lord Rama’s fourteen years of exile, Ravana’s abduction of Sita and Rama’s journey to reach his supreme devotee Shabri who has spent her entire life waiting for the darshan of the lord. Shabari merges in the divine light of Lord Ram and attains the supreme abode. The play ends on the note that Shri Ram, the great Manasvi (contemplative, thoughtful person), and the lord of the three worlds, has resided in the hearts of his devotees and showers his grace and compassion on everyone.

Director’s Note

My experience of directing Shabri Ke Ram is a divine experience. I have presented the characters of the play with different dimensions. It describes the stories of Shabari’s three births, which most people are not aware of. This is the theme of the play. It attempts to give a different dimension to the three main characters Shabari, Sita, and Surpanakha and in a way this play also defines women empowerment. Despite being mythological, it has a refreshing flavour, which makes this play contemporary.
