WRONG TURN

Wrong Turn touches various aspects of life through its protagonist, Arun Mehra, a young and successful advertising professional. The story starts with Arun ending up in the house of a retired judge on a stormy night. The judge along with his two friends, both of whom are retired lawyers, convinces Arun into playing a court room game. As the drama unfolds, Arun who since the start had been denying involvement in any sort of crime, finds himself at the receiving end where he has been found involved in planning the murder of his boss. The judge orders him to be hanged till death. But before the verdict could be executed, Arun manages to escape. However, natural justice follows and the play ends with Arun getting killed in a car crash. The play talks about ambitions, hidden instincts, and natural justice.

Director’s Note

The play I directed, I tried to work with complete professionalism. I attempted to create a full-length play where every character and every detail was meticulously worked on so that each character could be presented in the best possible way.  Even in terms of technical aspects like lighting and set design, a professional tone and lighting scheme were implemented. Wrong Turn is not just a story about choices—it reflects how a single decision can quietly reshape an entire life. As a director, I was drawn to this play because of its honesty and its courage to confront moments we often ignore or justify. The characters in Wrong Turn are not heroes or villains; they are ordinary people standing at emotional crossroads. Each “wrong turn” they take is deeply human—driven by fear, desire, pressure, or misunderstanding. My approach to directing this full-length production was rooted in realism and drama. I encouraged the actors to focus not on dramatics, but on authenticity—on silences, pauses, and unspoken conflicts. The staging, lighting, and movement are intentionally minimal, allowing the audience to engage directly with the characters’ inner struggles rather than external spectacle.
